Coaches at Castano BJJ

Professor Luiz Sergio Correa

  • Professor is the head instructor and founder of Marra Senki Association which Castano BJJ is affiliated with.
  • Professor has been practicing Jiu-Jitsu for over 30years, over 20 of  which he has been a blackbelt. 
  • Currently he has the rank of 6th degree.  He received his blackbelt from Paulo Strauch, former instructor from the  Reilson Gracie Academy. 
  • He is also one of the few black belts to hold a  professor diploma that is signed by Carlos Gracie Junior, Robson  Gracie, Osvaldo Alves and Master Mansour. 
  • He is a former member of  Brazilian Top Team and was an instructor to H.E. Sheikh Tahnoon Bin  Zayed (founder of the Abu Dhabi World Championships). 
  • He has won 7 world titles and has also competed in several other competitions.

Professor Nick Castano

 

  • Nick started grappling in 2003 and has been training in NOGI, Wrestling, and BJJ since then.
  • Turned Pro in Mixed Martial Arts in 2010 with Fight 2 Win promotions and finished 1-1.   
  • Received Black Belt Belt in 2022 and Professor title in May 2023 from Prof. Luiz Sergio Correa.  
  • Has Coached many MMA fighters and Kids that have won several World and National Champions. 
  • Nick has lived a majority of his life in Carrizo Springs (2001 Graduate) and Uvalde. 

Coach Dennis Hernandez

Marra Senki BJJ brown belt, received belt May of 2022. 

Uvalde native born and raised. 

Married and a father of five children, two of whom train BJJ.  

Started grappling career in 2003 during the early years of the Uvalde high school wrestling program. Wrestled throughout high school. 

Continued on to nogi grappling and mma with Professor Nick Castano at lockdown mma in 2010. 

1-0 as an amateur mma fighter. 

Started training in the gi in 2015 with Professor Nick Castano. 

Current morning fundamentals class coach.
